Stolen Device Protection is designed to prevent unauthorized access to your iPhone if it's stolen, but in practice it can block repair technicians from performing necessary diagnostics and restoration steps on a damaged device. For example, if your front camera is damaged, Stolen Device Protection will still require Face ID to make changes — making it impossible to bypass without a certified Apple location completing your repair. Turning this setting off before bringing your phone in ensures a smoother repair process.
How to Turn Off Stolen Device Protection on iPhone
- Open Settings
- Tap Face ID & Passcode
- Enter your Passcode
- Tap Stolen Device Protection
- Tap Turn Off Stolen Device Protection
