Reinstalling your Microsoft programs after an operating system install or data transfer is a quick process, and everything can be restored by signing into the same Microsoft account you originally downloaded apps with.
You must sign in with the same Microsoft account used to purchase or download the software, or the license will not appear. If you purchased a one-time version such as Office 2019 or Office 2021, go to: account.microsoft.com and select Services & subscriptions to find your product key and download link.
Specific office programs that came preinstalled on a previous computer are often tied to that device and may not transfer to a new one.

How To Redownload Microsoft Programs
Via the Microsoft Store
- Open the Start menu and select Microsoft Store.
- Select the profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select Sign in and enter the email and password for your Microsoft account.
- Select Library in the left-hand menu.
- Locate the program you want to reinstall and select Install or Get.
Your program has been reinstalled!
Via the Microsoft Website
- Open your web browser and go to www.microsoft365.com.
- Select Sign in and enter the email and password for your Microsoft account.
- Select Install apps from the top of the page.
- Select Install Microsoft 365 apps.
- Select Install next to your subscription or product listing.
- Open the downloaded file from your Downloads folder and select Yes to allow the installer to run.
- Wait for the installation to finish, then open Word or any Office program.
- Select Sign in and enter your Microsoft account credentials to activate.
Your Microsoft programs are installed and activated!
