Find Your Device’s IMEI
Whether you have an iPhone, iPad, or Android device, each one carries a unique IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) or serial number. This code acts as an identifier for your device and is often required for repairs, carrier support, trade-ins, insurance claims, and warranty verification. Having this number handy can save time and help ensure your device is serviced correctly. It's recommended to write your IMEI down so you can easily access it anytime.
The easiest place to find your IMEI is directly in your device’s Settings app. If your device isn’t turning on or accessible, don’t worry—there are several alternative ways to locate it, which are listed further down in this article.
Find Your IMEI Using Settings
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General.
- Tap About.
- Scroll down until you see IMEI.
Tip: You can copy the IMEI by touching and holding it.
Other Ways to Find Your IMEI
If you can’t access your device’s Settings, try one of the following methods:
- Check the back of the device or SIM tray On some iPads, iPhones, and Android devices, the IMEI is etched on the back. It can also sometimes be found printed on the inside of the SIM tray.
- Apple ID account (Apple devices) Sign in to your Apple ID account on another device or computer. Under Devices, select your device to view its IMEI and serial number.
- Original box or receipt If you still have the original packaging or purchase receipt, the IMEI is often printed on a label.
Why This Number Matters
Providing the correct IMEI helps technicians identify your exact device model, storage size, and network compatibility. This ensures accurate diagnostics, proper part selection, and faster service overall!
